What’s New???

Welcome back! Things have been rather busy behind the scenes at Cuddle Bear Crochet. In fact it entails a brand new crochet pattern in the works!

Can you guess what it might be? Nope it’s not a shawl, although I do have one of those that needs to be written up and tested too! In fact it’s a rather unprepossessing little thing that is entirely practical….well maybe not entirely! In fact it’s a Cross-Body Bag. It is something I need and I’ll tell you why!

One of my other past-times is birding. I love nothing better than going to different nature areas and listening for birds, looking for birds and observing them. It’s a hobby that my hubby and I share. When we go out we both have big hiking backpacks on as well as binoculars. I also have my digital camera on one side and on the other I usually have a quickly whipped up cross-body bag that I have to replace every season and sometimes more often depending on how long they last. Unfortunately women’s hiking pants just don’t have the pocket sizes that men’s pants do so I can’t just slip my cell into a pocket. As well there are certain things that just didn’t work with the quickly made up ones. Either they were just a tad too small and the phone stuck in it or the closure didn’t stay closed. I also worried about the bottom becoming caught on something and tearing the yarn that was holding it closed and my phone slipping out unnoticed. That would be extremely devastating to me as I have many crochet patterns on my phone.

Anyhow, I finally decided that I wanted to make a cross-body bag fit for me. Something that wouldn’t have straps that stretched until I had to make a knot in the strap. Create an easier way to pull out the phone quickly so I could turn on my bird app and try to identify the sound I’d heard. Somewhere to put my shades case as well! And also leaving my hands free so that I could use my walking stick with ease.

So soon you can look forward to a new pattern. I’m just working the details out for the pattern. I’ve made 3 versions so far, all with a different stitch count. I’ll keep you posted with the details as I get closer to the great reveal!

Tata for now my dearest friends,
